It’s beautiful outside. The sun’s shining, there’s a gentle breeze blowing and the Lake’s SCREAMING my name. Today’s our first ‘cook out’ of the season at the campground.
I have NO idea what’s on TV and I could NOT care less. There’s fun to be had and I’m game.
The point?
My Daughter once loved to play outside and had rather go for a walk than watch TV. These days, she’d rather sit inside and watch that infernal contraption.
What’s happened to us? Why is it that we’d rather watch some insignificant program than go outside and have our own adventure? When did it happen? What’s wrong with us?
What could be better than throwing a few sandwiches in a container of some sort, with some ice cold tea and heading outside to somewhere off the beaten path and just enjoying a picnic?
How about taking a digital camera out into the local woods, park, garden or whatever and saving some memories for pondering later?
Why not take your favorite hobby outside into the warm sunlight and let nature heighten your enjoyment of your own pass-time?
This is ridiculous, how on earth can watching some made up experience by someone else, viewed on TV, be better than living?

I've been a mean Daddy of late. I've been making Christina help us in the yard. Now I'm trying to purchase a stone slab to make a table out of in the garden (till then a green plastic one will have to do).
We all love games. Board games, card games, the lot (somehow I think canasta goes atop the list). From now on, provided the weather allows, family games will be had outdoors in the garden :)
